Following on from working at one of the UK’s largest estate agencies whilst based in Edinburgh, I saw an opportunity back home in Shetland I couldn’t refuse capitalising on. I believed that there was a gap in the market for an Estate Agent who blended traditional ideas with a modern approach.
Working in Edinburgh, it is a competitive, fast-paced market where at every appointment you were competing against several agents, so how could I make myself stand out? I made myself stand out by providing a personalised service which was tailored to each client’s individual needs.
I am there from the initial appointment to talk you through the process of selling, organising your home report with the surveyor, listing your property on all the major portals, conducting all the viewings free of charge, handling the negotiations on every offer, along with recommending trusted solicitors to help see you through to the keys being handed over. A completely proactive, hands-on service which alleviates the stress of selling.
Since launching in 2023, my proactive, modern methods of selling which I had learnt from my time in Edinburgh were received well back home.

In my first year, I sold 47 homes in Shetland.
Moving into the second year, the company continued to grow and so did the work load. After many early starts and late finishes, I knew it was the right time to take on a member of staff. Ashleigh Hughson joined the team in September 2024 as a Trainee Estate Agent.
I had met Ashleigh several times when she worked as a Sales Advisor at George Robertson’s. I knew from the few interactions we had, that she had every quality I was looking for. She was personable, approachable, a great communicator and always on hand to assist with anything you need.
Since joining, Ashleigh has proved to be a valuable asset to the team assisting with the day to day running of the Estate Agency along with always keeping me on my toes.
We went on to sell 107 homes in our second year and I couldn’t have done it without her.
Moving into the third year, one thing I have identified is that as the company continues to grow, we need to not just maintain the service levels, but improve on them.
Our goal is to keep innovating our ideas and continue providing the best service possible to anyone selling their home in Shetland. To do this, I need a team of people around me who share the same passion for serving the local community, and Kori Coutts who joined us in September 2025 embodies everything that’s good about customer service.
After working as a Social Care Worker for 5 years, Kori became a Senior Social Care Worker at the age 20. After serving 9 successful years in the care sector, Kori fancied a new challenge and we are glad to have him on board. Within the first month of Kori joining us full-time, we could tell he was going to be a valuable member of the team moving forward.
Kori is my first cousin, and although Ashleigh isn’t related by blood, they make up this little property family of mine. As a team, we are all passionate about serving the local community of Shetland.
